Ideaverse Pro 2.0 launches April 16th

Wow, it’s been a busy 10 days.

I've been to the Netherlands, then San Antonio, and now I’m writing this while on a plane to Montana. So yeah, I have a bunch of things to share...

🌌 Ideaverse Pro 2.0 will launch April 16th

Ideaverse Pro launched in December of 2023. It made a big splash, getting to #3 on Product Hunt and being downloaded thousands of times. I feel the launch for 2.0 will be just as massive.

With 2.0, I'm going to provide free walkthroughs built into the kit. Free trainings. Curious about how to use the revolutionary ACE folder framework? 2.0 will have dedicated lessons for each folder and subfolder, with flexible ways to use each one—ranging from simple to complex. Beginners can use the lightweight approach. Technically advanced people can try the more complex approaches.

That's just one thing. There are handfuls of things I can't wait to share.

👋🏿👋👋🏽🧤 Raise your hand to join our behind-the-scenes waitlist for Ideaverse Pro 2.0 and watch my exclusive “making of” videos.

What Is an Ideaverse?

At the recent PKM Summit in Utrecht, I presented on the concept of the “Ideaverse”—a term I’m increasingly feeling comfortable owning.

An ideaverse is more than just a heap of notes. It’s a personal internet of interconnected notes. Unlike handwritten or folder-based notes, an ideaverse grows with you, adapts to your thinking patterns, and becomes a thinking partner rather than just a junk drawer.

What’s fascinating is how many people approached me afterward saying they’d searched for more information about these concepts (the Ideaverse, the Rollup Method, the ACE folder framework) but couldn’t find authoritative sources beyond old forum posts.

This gap between what I teach in the LYT Workshop and what I share publicly is not good. I’m actively working to bridge it.

Highlights from the PKM Summit in Utrecht

I really enjoy this event. Getting off the train at Utrecht, I immediately felt at home. Utrecht has many warm memories; I love this place. The summit delivered on all levels. I met so many great people. The energy is amazing. I hope to see you next year. Some highlights in no particular order:

  • Meeting former colleague Bianca Pereira in person for the first time.
  • Feeling so supported by LYT alumni Stephan van de Ven who handled a ton of coordination.
  • Dinner at Humphrey’s with Bianca, Nicole van der Hoeven, Silvia Retzlaff, and Noel.
  • Meeting and chatting with all the LYT alumni. I hope to mention you all by name next week and fear leaving someone out by accident.
  • Zsolt Viczián presenting on how he wrote a book in six weeks using visual notes.
  • Co-presenting with Martijn Aslander on his personal ontology. It has influenced a new part of Ideaverse Pro 2.0.
  • Seeing Lykle, Mark, and Kim in person again, and having a really nice dinner convo with Ton—all of whom make the PKM Summit possible.
  • Enjoying being interviewed by Malik Alimoekhamedov. He had the most thoughtful questions and has a future in interviewing if he wanted.
  • Me teaching The Rollup Method to a live audience. This method is taught on Day 16 of Notemaking Mastery. Notemaking Mastery starts end of May and will run for 22 days. Join the Notemaking Mastery waitlist if you want to learn more about it, and also how we're doing our first ever "Synced Sprint." Those emails will start in early May.

I’m sure I’ll share more about the PKM Summit later.

Obsidian Tip: Use ACE Folders for Better Search

I have notes about "ideaverse" in both the Atlas and Efforts folders. The Atlas folder has my evergreen, long-lasting thoughts and ideas about it. The Efforts folder has my action-oriented notes. So when I search for "ideaverse," wouldn't it be nice if I could get the types of notes I want to see, and not the other type?

You can. In Obsidian, just hit cmd/ctrl-o to bring up the Quick Switcher. Then either type "atlas/" or "effort/" and get the actual results you want.

Here is my typing out "atlas/ ideaverse"...

And here is me typing out "efforts/ideaverse"...

Do you ever search this way? This is a huge, secret reason the ACE Folder Framework is so powerful. If you just jumble your ideas and projects into the same folder, then when you go to that folder you are forcing your mind to be unsure of what to focus on: sensemaking or actiontaking. That's another reason who ACE separates them with Atlas and Efforts.

I learned the sponsorship game at light speed at the Sponsor Games.

It’s hard to believe Linking Your Thinking is almost five years old. And in all this time I haven’t done any sponsorships, and really only one affiliate with Readwise. Just so you know, that’s unusual. It’s important to me to lower the stress of how revenue comes in. In the first two years it was 100% from cohorts. Last year it was roughly 65% from cohorts and 35% from products, and 0% from sponsorships. It’s very clear to me that I need to diversify revenue streams to continue to make LYT sustainable for another five years.

But I also want to do it with intention and authenticity. I must respect you first and foremost. Sponsorships have do be done in a way that feels in line with Linking Your Thinking's overall goals of improving our thinking and doing more with our ideas.

Thats why I attended the Sponsor Games hosted by Justin Moore. I learned so much, so quickly because of the way he combined lightly competitive games with the contents from his book with interactions with other participants. It struck me that this was the perfect example of where 1+1+1 = 5 somehow. I intend to attend next year. If anyone is interested, email me, I’d love to know.

I'd love to understand your vote, so please don't hesitate to email me about what is important to you. That way I can communicate your thoughts directly to the them!

Stay connected,

Nick
