Obsidian just released Bases. It's insane. It's the most most hyped I've been in over two years. I have a FULL walkthrough for you: Obsidian Bases: The Notion Killer? (Offline, Local, Fast) » I am covering everything about Bases, AI, and Bases+AI in the LYT Workshop. Raise your hand to join the workshop waitlist. I'm doing wild things with Bases and Dynamic Links. I've set up a view where any active note I am in with dynamically show me all related links. And not just in a zero-context list,...

I took a week off. I'm sure you noticed, right? I journaled about skipping last week and the need for self-compassion. I shared it in my writer's log for the Writing Original Works 22-day sprint we're doing. I'm glad I'm participating like a student in WOW. I'm writing so much! Here's what to expect in this newsletter: ChatGPT 5, Google Genie 3, Obsidian users, Obsidian Bases, my battle with the train, and what to expect in the LYT Workshop this October... I'm sending this after the fourth of July holidays in the States... Chapter 1 of the Linking Your Thinking book is going to be the hardest chapter. I don't like non-fiction books that just point to study about study and stat after stat. Barf! But I know research is needed. So how do I break through this and still write the book I want to write? It might sound obvious, but it felt like a great insight when it struck me... Tie the research to a personal story! It's a challenge that is finally...

I'm writing this from my new happy place in Montana... Setting up a new space is a lot of stress, but on the other side is a sense of what's possible. I didn't realize just how much the tiny LA box that we've lived in the past five years was making it so hard to spread my wings. But here? Space! And with space, creativity... Timeblocking has helped In a new environment, you have the opportunity to set up new routines. I've taken that to heart by time-blocking everything for the past two...

Well, I'm excited to announce that I signed a MAJOR book deal with Simon & Schuster! The fact that they inked a "major" deal to a first-time author shows that we've been seen. We've been heard. And my new editors at Simon & Schuster have bet money that our message is ready to spread far and wide. This is a big moment for me and for this movement we are leading. Here is the official release on Publisher's Marketplace. It's happening! Our Shared Opportunity with the Book This book will...

I know many of you are here to “organize your ideas and thoughts.” But I believe you're really here for a deeper reason. The LYT Manifesto In our age of information overwhelm, we find ourselves lost in everyone’s thoughts but our own. We are left cognitively reeling, incapable of making sense of all the information that inundates us. The result is a paralyzing apathy, where we are stuck endlessly consuming information—but frozen in finding the inspiration to act. That's why Personal Knowledge...

Hey friends, I'm writing this in Montana, where I've spent the last two weeks in my new home. (It's weird typing that.) We'll be splitting time between Montana and LA over the next year. It's also where I recorded a video I think you'll like: If I had to start over with Obsidian, here’s exactly what I would do… Don’t import notes. Don’t make folders. Try this instead. Watch here » Ever thought of using a LYT Wayfinder? Wayfinders are navigational aids. Prime examples are the signage in...

I love figuring out ways to visualize time. And I crave views that are bigger than a day, week, or month. In January, I shared the Linear Calendar. Today, I want to share how I use Obsidian to plan my year of travel (and have a place to capture my notes for those events). Here is one more behind-the-scenes walkthrough. How I Plan My Travel in Obsidian » More videos in the behind-the-scenes waitlist include "Records & the Calendar Activity Log," new themes, and the key to unlocking link-based...

Wow, it’s been a busy 10 days. I've been to the Netherlands, then San Antonio, and now I’m writing this while on a plane to Montana. So yeah, I have a bunch of things to share... 🌌 Ideaverse Pro 2.0 will launch April 16th Ideaverse Pro launched in December of 2023. It made a big splash, getting to #3 on Product Hunt and being downloaded thousands of times. I feel the launch for 2.0 will be just as massive.
